The Next Slice

Good morning, it has been some days since I last jotted down a few lines of what’s been happening in the city. Seems like time just moves along, without much chance of slowing down. We have returned from our break in MI, which we enjoyed. Was good to connect with friends and family in a country setting. One somehow gets adapted to his surroundings little by little, and when removed a bit, realizes that things are different in many ways. We jumped right back in the city life and unit with it’s amazing setting.

We had my brother Dan and wife Chris here for a few days, think we hit most points of attraction on their list. Set a new walking record for a day, 13.2 miles! Don’t plan on trying to break that one. It does help to offset the many calories that accumulate from eating good food. Have lots of good memories to reflect upon!

We have a new young man here, Carson Holdeman from Farwell, TX. He arrived a day after we left on break, so he was here two weeks before we met. Another fine young man who is doing well adjusting to city life. Elmer and MaryEllen Swarey filled in for us. Our term will end here at the end of 2024. Who knows what is next?

Spring is coming with the newness of green trees and plants blooming in the parks. The weather has been all across the board lately, Warm then cold, and rain and sun. Will be nice to put away the winter garb for good.

We are expecting company tomorrow afternoon. Jared’s family is coming for the weekend. Then next weekend is when Max’s family is coming. Then our next boy will be coming soon after that. So, always something going on to keep things interesting. We also are having visitors Sunday morning, Bart and Annet from Belgium with some of their children and grandchildren. They are visiting NYC and want to see us and come to church. Bart’s were here last fall, and stayed here with us.

It is always interesting to meet our tract distributors here in the city. We have many who use our literature and they stop by and get what they need. Yesterday I met two young men who just found us here, they contacted office in KS to find someone nearest them and it was the mission here. They are very zealous and enthused about the work! They are our boys age, so was neat they could meet a couple of the unit boys. They want to come to Bible study sometime, hoping it works out. They would add much enthusiasm to our service. Never know when the buzzer rings who will be there!

Wishing you all a happy week and enjoy the Easter season with all the hope it brings!

  1. We really enjoy your emails! Missed being able to see you on your break here in Michigan. Sounds like you had a great time. Would still like to visit you sometime while you remain in New York. Life has been crazy busy here too. Keep spreading the Word!!!
