It is early morning in the big city, things are fairly quiet on our street. The daylight comes sooner and the evenings linger too…It is as beautiful as a city can be, with springtime bringing the green leaves and flowers all around us. It gives a new outlook for anyone who notices the change. It can hide a lot of undesirable things, but not all. You realize that many try to make their spot a refuge from the masses. It reminds me that most people want a quiet place they can go to reflect on things important to them. Our little backyard has been getting much attention of late. New plants have been added and lawn has been mowed (takes a couple minutes) and new mulch put down. We will spend more time there as the weather allows. Our grills are there too, which we have used quite often. So, we also have a little spot to go to.
We have had a nice bit of company lately. Some of the boy’s family has come to see what is happening. Always good to meet them and make a connection. Our new boy Preston has arrived and adjusting well to our unit, another fine young man to have with us here. Each one adds something different to the mix. Also, Troy’s and Jed’s stopped for a night and part of a day. Took them on a brisk tour of the city and had nice visit to catch up on MI news.
Went to Fleetwood for a weekend so boys could be with youth and play ball. Was there for Sunday morning church, was a nice change to be in that setting. Last weekend we went to Belleville PA. for a youth rally. Very enjoyable time of inspiration for everyone. There were 260 youth and leaders, kind of took over the church there. This week we are just at the unit catching up and doing the normal.
We have a service once a month at the Tribecca campus, part of bowery mission. We sing some songs and have a little devotional. It was there where we met Mr. Oklahoma, we don’t know his name, so hence his nickname. He is an older gentleman who is enthused with sharing the gospel. Of late, he has been hanging out at the main bowery mission where we serve breakfast. Last week he had a guitar, and wanted to sing us a song, so after breakfast he came outside and sang to us. By the time he finished, he had a small group around him. It had a nice message about what Heaven will be like. The group applauded him, and we went on our way. It would cheer you up to meet him.
An update on our banking fiasco, we have most of the stolen money back, but not all. We been on them to keep at it. We been trying to open a new account at another bank, but it is a trial in itself. Who would think it so complicated a process. I don’t know how many times Stan and I have took different documents and still need more. We not reaching out anymore, if they come through, we may switch yet.
Wishing all a good day. with much courage to face each challenge that is before us. Still hoping to add your name to the visitor calendar.
